Histochemical Investigation of the Reticuloendothelial Organs in Hypersplenic Rabbits.

Abstract
Histological findings were compared with histochemical reactions or alkaline and acid phosphatase of reticuloendotheiial organ such as lung, liver, spleen, kidney and bone marrow of the hypersplenic rabbits which were induced y methyl cellulose injection, and the following results were obtained.
1. Four weeks after the methyl cellulose injection, giant cells appeared on the alveolar septum, hepatic sinusoidal wall, and splenic red pulp.
After twelve weeks, the appearance.of the above giant cells was more marked and the swelling of the endothelial cells in glomeruh could be seen.
2. Atrophy of the white pulp was more marked in the twelve weeks group than four weeks, The liver maintained normal architectures in the tour weeks group. However, in the twelve weeks group hepatic cell damage was shown with the appearance of giant cells and pronounced proliferation of the reticuloendothelial cells.
3. There was a tendency of hyperplasia of bone splenic group comparing with the control group.
4. Acid phosphatase showed strongly positive giant cells, and it was more marked in the twelve weeks weeks group, especially on the liver and spleen.
5. The alkaline phosphatase showed weak and negative reaction o enzyme activity in the above all giant cells and splenic white pulp.
